Roger Wentworth
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Roger Wentworth opened the Sandler Sales Institute in Beavercreek, Ohio in 2005. With titles ranging from sales rep to CEO, his client list includes sales and sales management professionals in a cross-section of industries, from technology to consumer products to manufacturing to public relations and more.
Ironically, Roger had no intention of going into sales, much less sales training.
In 2002, after a 30-year career in manufacturing, engineering management, product development, and program management, Roger-an engineer at heart-was unpleasantly surprised to find that he had been promoted into a sales position. With several years' experience as The Gem City Engineering Company's Director of Engineering, Roger had a dim view of high-pressure sales techniques. He had neither the interest-nor, he thought, the ability-to sell his company's complex engineering solutions.
Fortunately for Roger, Gem City hired the Sandler Sales Institute to develop its management and sales staff soon after he was appointed to his new position. With little respect for traditional sales techniques or training, Roger went into the Sandler engagement with low expectations.
But Roger soon realized that being a Sandler-trained sales professional was different from anything he had ever experienced. For Roger, sales was now an honorable profession, steeped in challenge, honesty, courage, and simple truths. He readily admits "Sandler changed my life."
Roger's experience with Sandler was so powerful that he eventually left Gem City Engineering to found the Dayton office of Sandler Sales Institute.
Today, Roger meets weekly with groups of clients to rehearse and reinforce Sandler sales techniques and share best practices. He is also a sought-after public speaker on sales training, sales management and motivation.
